Some of you may know that Steve and I are doing up our log cabin and making it into a lovely home ... we do believe we are now at the end of what Steve would say is our never ending search for windows! We bought 4 lovely wooden windows from eBay the other month (the bottom windows in the pictures below) ... they are perfect for what we wanted and I am so excited that Steve has 3 of them fitted already ... well as with lots of projects and working it out as we go along, plans change and we have decided to add a veranda to one end so we can sit on a swing and look at the stunning view down the valley ... this has meant that we are changing where some of the windows go and need a double sliding door too ... good old eBay came up trumps again, Steve found sliding doors in a near by town and also a lovely large window to go next to them (the windows in the brick wall) and some TOTAL bargains ... the top window is for the bathroom ... 99p folks! yep 99p! and the window below the brick wall one for the kitchen was only £5! The door is ceder and worth over £2000 and guess what we won it for ... £1.20!
My parents were off this weekend visiting one of my brothers in York and the kitchen window was on their way home so they picked that up and on Saturday, Steve and I went for a drive around to pick the others up ... it was a lovely day so we decided to take dilly-dog with us :) it was our first family adventure and dilly was as good as gold and just loved being with us ... she helped navigated ...
and slept a little ;)
we called into a little cafe after picking up the door and sat out side with Dilly ... the lovely ladies that worked there came out with a bowl of water for her then a few minutes later a plate with a cut up sausage! There are some lovely people out there!
On the way home we stopped off a Church Stretton for a delicious ice-cream and a walk around the town. Steve had the brain wave of driving up Cardingmill Valley to look at the views ... it was totally sheer on one side (not my side luckily) but totally breath taking!
We stopped off so Dilly could have a run around ... I only had my phone to take pictures, but would love to go back with my camera!

I have had a private blog on blogger for 3 years where I would journal really personal thoughts and things and just a couple of people really close to me could read it. I haven't used it much over the last year though as I am tending to just journal in my diary by my bed ... so I have decided to delete it ... I have been going through it and there are some lovely picture on there that I want to keep, so I thought I would put them here so you can enjoy them too ... they may not mean much to you, but they are special to me x
have a lovely happy sunny Sunday x
Here are some of my favourite things from this week ...
1. A Beautiful Mess' App ... this lovely app is so much fun if you like adding things to your photos ... I have been meaning to get it for a while but got round to it last week while I was really ill and not up to much. There are a few filters, some lovely borders, great fonts and doodles!
2. Avon foot works lavender soak ... in the summer I love soaking my feet at the end of the day and this lovely soak by Avon has been a must for me this Summer!
3. Stockholm Dress from White Stuff ... I just love love love it :)
4. I love this pretty gold leaf necklace ... I have a silver one that is very similar, but as my engagement ring is gold I have been thinking I need a bit of gold jewellery. This is by HandmadeDezigns on Etsy
5. and finally PRINCE GEORGE ... I am afraid to say I was watching it all ... what can I say, I am a sucker for happy stories!
What are you lovin' this week?

this summer has not been at all what I thought it would be
but I guess life is not like that
I should know that by now
I should know that time flies and suddenly its the end of July
I should know that my health is not going to be great and days will disappear and I will get frustrated with myself
I should know that nothing happens the way 'I plan it'
I should know to let go and trust God
I should know that 'His plan' is better than mine and I should go with the flow
I should know that most things are not worth getting stressed over
I should instead spend my time thanking him for the best Summer of my life
I should just relax and enjoy all his blessings
I should not waste the rest of this wonderful Summer
I am thankful and I am blessed
I am happy and I am where God wants me to be
I am excited and I am in love

yesterday I was making stock and as usual I got distracted and came up with a new little collection of cards ... there are only 4 cards at the moment, but each card is available in a choice of 4 colours and there is pleanty of scope for more blessings ... these few I have started with would be great for engagement, wedding or anniversary cards.
wishing you a world of happiness and joy
~~~~~
you both deserve a lifetime of beautiful tomorrows
~~~~~
cherish your love, each other and your days together
~~~~~
may every year you share find you more in love with each other
they are £2.50 each and the flower is a mother of pearl button :)
available in my shop, folksy or ...
I have also started listing my goodies on eBay again, so if you like to shop on eBay, please pop by!
what have you got planned for this week? I am making stock, painting a ceiling, picking up a door and maybe a window, walking the wooflet and catching up on Once Upon A Time :)
I have been really ill for the last 11 days so olive hasn't been up to much recently, but she has managed to have a few adventures ...
you can follow olive on instagram with the hash tag #mariaslittleowl
hope you have all had a lovely weekend :)
I have been looking for inspiration for a 'bathroom' sign and on my travels around the internet I have been inspired by some of the lovely sayings and signs that are out there ... and I decided to make a couple for our bedroom ... yes they are soppy love ones ;)
1. You Need
wood, saw, sandpaper, pencil, printouts, glue, scalpel, cutting board, scissors or trimmer, paint, paintbrush ... sorry didn't take a photo of it all, but its pretty standard stuff!
I made a note of the saying I loved and then had a bit of fun with photoshop making up my designs
2. preparing
cut out the printouts, I made mine a couple of mm larger than the width of the wood.
measure out the size of wood you need ... mine was an odd piece floating around the garage as wood tends to do ... I just measured off the sizes I needed with a pencil.
3. the wood
the wood is then sawn to the correct size and I sanded down the edges so there were no splintery edges and I also did a quick sand all over so they had a nice smooth feel.
using emulsion, as its what I had to hand I painted the edges of the wood ... if I had more time I would have probably done the back too, but that will not be seen so I didn't bother :/
4. sticking
once the paint is dry I used all purpose adhesive to glue on the printouts.
I wanted them glued really well and so I put the glue all over ...
then using my finger I spread the glue smoothly all over especially right to the edge ...
I then carefully (after washing the glue off my hands!!) placed the printout on the wood and with a piece of kitchen towel between my fingers and the printout I pressed in smooth strokes all over so the glue stuck with no bubbles or bumps.
5. finishing off
once stuck on and dried I used a scalpal and cutting mat, with the printout face down I just trimmed off the edges and neatened it up.
... and there you have it ... a cute plaque ... you could, if you wanted, sand the edges to give it a rustic look, or not paint the edges if you prefer to have a wood finish ... you could also varnish them if you want them to be in the bathroom or more hard wearing. You can also attach a hook or string on the back to hang them ... mine are just going to be propped up though.
... perfect to add a little something to your home!
I am really pleased with mine and can already picture them in my bedroom :)
I would love to see any you make so please leave a link in the comments below!
